7. November 13, 2018: Sporting KC 4-2 Real Salt Lake – Western Conference Semifinal

A wild game that produced some really poor examples of putting away a two-legged tie. Sporting were holding on for dear life in the final 20 minutes, during which Peter Vermes had to feel very lucky after RSL narrowly missed several chances. Daniel Salloi secured their spot in the Western Conference Final with an extra-time goal after one of the wildest playoff encounters in recent MLS history.

6. September 30, 2015: Sporting KC 1-1 Philadelphia Union – Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final

The club’s greatest-ever result on the road, as it went all the way to penalty kicks for Jordi Quintilla to send the game-winning penalty past the keeper in front of the joyous travelling supporters in Philadelphia to claim the organization’s third U.S. Open Cup title, their third major trophy since 2012. After regular-time goals from Le Toux and Krisztian Nemeth cancelled each other out, it took a fantastic penalty shootout for Sporting KC to lift the 2015 U.S. Open Cup.

5. November 6, 2013: Sporting KC 3-1 New England Revolution – Eastern Conference Semi-Final

Down 2-1 after a leg-one loss in New England, Aurelien Collin scored before being cancelled out by Revolution’s Dimitry Imbongo. Then came Seth Sinovic’s signature moment as he forced extra-time with a rocket in the 79th minute. In extra-time, Benny Feilhaber then hopped on Matt Reis’ poorly advised throw, centered it for Claudio Bieler, who made no mistake to send Sporting to the Western Conference Final.

4. July 12, 2017: Sporting KC 3-0 FC Dallas – Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal

Just two days after the passing of co-owner Neal Patterson, Sporting KC pulled off a highly emotional win in extra-time over FC Dallas in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup quarter-final. After a tenth minute red card to Seth Sinovic, Sporting held up defensively before firing three goals in the extra thirty minutes to clinch their place in the U.S. Open Cup semi-finals. SKC would go on to defeat the San Jose Earthquakes in a penalty shootout and cruised past the New York Red Bulls in the final to win their fourth-ever U.S. Open Cup title.
