1. Hype will build

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. And this prolonged absence will only make fans even more excited to see the Chicago Fire take the field once again. The offseason could not have started off any worse for the club. They went through one of the worst rebrands in sports history. It angered swathes of the fanbase who still have not forgiven the front office for changing the logo, color scheme, and jerseys.

To the Fire’s credit, they did a lot to fix things, bringing in the right coaches, players, and staff to make up for their earlier mistakes. Hype subsequently shot up as the season drew closer, and when the team played well on the field, the excitement really started to rise. Chicago looked controlled in possession. They passed out the back to build attacks, they scored two lovely goals, and looked offensively dangerous in the final third. their way up the field.

Those showings are even more promising considering the Fire were not at full strength. It was hoped that supporters would get their glimpse at a dominant Fire against Orlando City last weekend. Obviously, that hasn’t happened.

But it will eventually. And until then, excitement will only continue to build. The Fire’s return to the field, then, will be that much sweeter.
