2. There was plenty of attacking talent

Ulysses Llanez highlighted the forwards named to the roster. The under-19 Wolfsburg player scored his first goal for the senior team against Costa Rica and has been a consistent goalscorer for Wolfsburg’s U-19 team in Germany.

There has been a growing buzz around Llanez that he can emulate the other young Americans who are beginning to make waves in the Bundesliga. He would have had a good chance to make his name on the international stage had the qualifiers gone ahead. But even without the matches to shine, the future is still extremely bright for young Llanez.

Exciting FC Dallas player Jesus Ferreira is also an emerging young talent in the USMNT ranks. He led Dallas in goals scored last season and has started in both of their fixtures in MLS this season. He is yet to score this season but is set to be a key part of what looks to be one of the elite attacking forces in MLS.

Then you can throw in the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Jeremy Ebobisse and Jonathan Lewis, all of which are semi-regulars for their MLS teams — and in the case of Aaronson an improving attacking midfielder who looks ready to explode in Philadelphia — and suddenly it is clear to see the growing attacking talent in the U.S. youth ranks.
