LAFC Vs Philadelphia Union: 3 things we learned – Golazos galore
By Daniel Garza
1. Did LAFC empty the tank?
The end-to-end nature of the match as both teams pushed for a winner in the second half turned into a track meet. Both clubs had to dig deep and there were some very tired players dragging their legs across the pitch in the closing stages.
For the Union, they could afford to empty the tank. They have six days before their next match, against the San Jose Earthquakes, who have lost both of their matches so far this season, at home. But LAFC do not have the same luxury.
Bob Bradley’s side have the crucial first leg of their quarter-final match against Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions League on Thursday. Thankfully for LAFC, the first leg is at the Banc of California Stadium so travel is not a major issue. But they have already played four games this season and are set for more congested periods moving forward.
LAFC, then, must focus on their recovery as they get to set to face the current leaders of Liga MX Clausura. After such a physically demanding match, they might need a miracle.
