LOS ANGELES, CA – AUGUST 25: Carlos Vela #10 of Los Angeles FC celebrates his goal during Los Angeles FC’s MLS match against Los Angeles Galaxy at the Banc of California Stadium on August 25, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. The match ended in a 3-3 draw. (Photo by Shaun Clark/Getty Images) /

1. Vela can’t stop scoring

After a record-breaking 34-goal season in 2019, Carlos Vela shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

He opened the 2020 MLS season with a terrific chip over Luis Robles to score the winner against Inter Miami last week. That goal came after a two-goal performance against Leon in the remarkable comeback in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Vela is in top form despite it being just the start of the year. And if he reaches the heights of his MVP-winning season last year, it could be trouble for everyone involved, not just the Union. Jim Curtin’s side have to come ready to defend and do their best to limit his impact, but that is much easier said than done.

Vela is on a tear at present. And he could single-handedly take the game away from the Union, no matter what they do to try and stop him.
