2. Alejandro Pozuelo on a different level
Some players just play on a different plane to everyone else on the pitch. That was very much the case with Alejandro Pozuelo and the other 21 players who chasing the football on this occasion. The Spaniard was, like he has been almost every time he has taken to the field for Toronto FC, wonderful to watch.
One moment more than any other summarised his floating performance: a high ball ballooned into the air. From a great height, it dropped in the centre-circle towards Pozuelo. Looking as though he would attempt to bring the ball under his control, he instead played a first-time volleyed pass into the path of Jozy Altidore, the striker free to run on goal, his shot palmed wide by Sead Johnson.
This was not the vintage Pozuelo performance. He has produced more magical moments. But in brief touches, he continues to prove that he is playing at a cerebral level that far outweighs any other individual on the pitch — and maybe even in MLS.
