1. Christen Press continues impressive run

Winning the Golden Ball at the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying competition was a tremendous start to the year for Christen Press. The American forward scored five goals during the tournament and was an ever-present threat for the USWNT.

She continued her recent run of good form against England by scoring an absolutely stunning goal. Receiving the ball on the half-turn in a pocket of space just outside the penalty area, she quickly turned, set herself up with a lovely touch, and curled a beautiful finish into the far that is an early candidate for the USWNT’s Goal of the Year.

Despite not having Alex Morgan, for the time being, the USWNT have gotten goal contributions from other players, of which Press has been a key contributor. She may be on her way to being named the SheBelieves Player of the Tournament with performances like this.

It is shaping up to be a big year for Press if she can continue to find the back of the net as she has done thus far. Her presence in the squad only goes to show the outrageous strength in depth that the USWNT currently possesses. 2020 is proving to be quite the year.
