USMNT defender Tyler Adams is going to be an RB Leipzig player for the years to come. This and more in this week’s USMNT abroad.

A big contract extension has been signed by Tyler Adams with RB Leipzig. The United States Men’s National Team midfielder will be a member of the Bundesliga club through the 2025 season.

Adams is one of the German club’s top prospects and has been a regular in the starting XI when healthy. Unfortunately, this season has seen him deal with a lengthy groin problem that kept him sidelined up until recently but then flared up again in the last few weeks.

Despite the recent injury issues, Leipzig recognizes the value Adams brings to the club as they continue to try and develop to an elite club in Europe. Adams has proven he belongs in a top league with a top club. It’s going to be very exciting to see what the future holds for the 21-year-old.

With the good news of Adams signing, there was some disappointing news from France as Timothy Weah will miss the remainder of the season for Lille. A hamstring injury has derailed his progress in Ligue 1 this season and he will now miss the rest of the campaign.

Of course, this means he won’t feature for the USMNT any time soon. More concerningly, he is slipping out of the first team at Lille. For young players, playing regularly is the most important element to their progression. For the majority of the season, Weah has not had that. Hopefully, then, he can come back stronger from his injury.
