1. Nicolas Figal is the real deal

What proved to be the best bit of business by Paul McDonough during the offseason was the signing of 25-year-old Argentinian center-back Nicolas Figal. At only $6 million, Figal showed how important he will be for Inter Miami’s backline throughout the season.

Starting the game off with a few jittery passes, Figal grew into the game and looked increasingly comfortable in the second half. He proved that he could potentially become one of the best defenders in the league, and every great team needs an anchoring center-back to build their foundation upon.

He put in a solid performance, intercepting several passes and ending the game by winning the majority of his defensive duels. Even though Inter Miami lost the battle, there were plenty of positive moments to take away from this match, Figal chief among them.
