1. Goalless debut for Chicharito

There were no goals for Javier Hernandez on his debut. Visibly frustrated, he did not get the service he needed to be a lethal threat in the final third. The LA Galaxy would have wanted their new star player to open his season in style but there was no repeat of what Zlatan Ibrahimovic did against LAFC in 2018.

It is not the end of the world for Hernandez and the Galaxy. He still ran the channels well, showed promising link-up play with Cristian Pavon, and is getting into the right areas. He will score goals, it might just take some time to improve the overall offensive cohesion of the team.

Once Hernandez is able to get on the same page of those around him, the fireworks should start to begin. Pavon was superb on the left flank, Aleksandar Katai is also a new player, and Efrain Alvarez is out injured.

Yes, it would have been nice to see the long-awaited goal from Chicharito in a Galaxy uniform, but it will have to wait for another time. Nevertheless, the signs are positive, even if the results are not.
