2. Los Angeles FC vs. Inter Miami CF

It gets, arguably, even tougher for the second of the two expansion sides on their MLS debut as they have a baptism of fire on the road at one of the best teams in MLS history. Inter Miami CF’s first-ever match in the top flight of American soccer will come against a historic Los Angeles FC.

2019 was epic for LAFC, who broke the single-season record for points accumulated in the regular season. They had the highest ever goal difference in the history of the regular season and equalled the goalscoring record. This sustained brilliance was mainly down to one man, MLS MVP and single-season record goalscorer, Carlos Vela.

For Inter Miami, this is a tough test, but it is one they can see as an opportunity. The league, and the world, is probably expecting them to lose, especially away in LA, where the Black and Gold lost only once during the regular season in 2019. However, what a chance to start against the very best that MLS has to offer.
