2. Sounders cope well with constant pressure

While not losing was the main aim of the night, we still understand the frustration from some factions of the fanbase. When you are leading 2-0 with half an hour to go, you genuinely believe your club is going to hold on for a win. However, ‘hold on’ is the key phrase in that previous sentence. Look no further than the stats sheet to get a clearer distinction of how much pressure C.D. Olimpia applied.

On the night, the home side created 21 shots at goal, — compared to 15 by the Seattle Sounders — while holding a 53% edge in possession. Where their domination really showed though, was with 61 crosses and 16 corners. Seattle had just 13 crosses and four corners in comparison.

Of course, there is often a difference between creating chances and counting how many are actually quality attempts. Regardless, you can accept that despite conceding two goals, the Rave Green did reasonably well in contending with the consistent pressure applied by their opponents.
