Tim Weah made his return for Lille after a prolonged injury spell. Unfortunately, it ended in disappointment. Find out how he fared among many others in this week’s USMNT abroad.

The 2019/20 season started off with an injury for U.S. Men’s National Team center-forward Tim Weah and has kept the Lille man sidelined for a large part of the campaign. That was until this weekend when he made his return to the pitch.

Weah entered in the second half to make a brief 10-minute appearance in 2-1 loss to Marseille in Ligue 1 action. It was a celebratory return for a player of great promise but horrible injury luck, someone who the USMNT were looking to build around.

Heartbreakingly, then, his comeback will be short-lived as Lille announced Weah will be out for a decent period after he tore his right hamstring and will enter the process rehabilitation once more. With three months remaining in the French top division season, this is a huge blow for Weah, who will miss the majority of the fight for the Champions League places.

Another USMNT midfielder was met with an in-match injury. Duane Holmes left Derby County’s match in the first half. No official word yet on the timeline of his return from the ankle injury but he was just enjoying a strong run of form for the Rams so any absence comes at just the wrong time.

And the bad injury luck does not end there. USMNT starlet Tyler Adams will miss the next two matches for RB Leipzig. This news comes as a disappointment with Leipzig facing Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League this coming week. Adams was in line to start in what might well have been the biggest game of his career.
