1. A winning mentality
Winning in the playoffs has not come easy for both Club Leon and LAFC in their respective domestic leagues. LAFC stormed their way to a dominant regular-season showing in MLS and won the Supporters’ Shield by a landslide only to be upended by Sounders in the Conference Finals.
For Leon, they finished first in the 2019 Clausura regular season and lost in the finals to Tigres. In the fall, they finished second in the Apertura regular season but would exit the playoffs right away in the quarter-finals.
Both clubs are searching for that final product that leads to a major title. At the moment, a trophy in a tournament setting continues to allude them. This, then, is the perfect opportunity to prove that they have the winning mettle to compete at the highest level.
