Kobe Hernandez-Foster is the latest LA Galaxy academy player to sign for a Bundesliga club. Are the Galaxy set to become the next producer of top talent?

The Los Angeles Galaxy have developed yet another player who will sign for a Bundesliga club. Defender Kobe Hernandez-Foster is set to join Wolfsburg. At 17, Hernandez-Foster will follow his former teammate Ulysses Llanez to the German club.

Wolfsburg currently have two United States Men’s National Team players on their roster with John Brooks and Llanez already on the books. Hernandez-Foster will become the third player. He will likely follow the same path Llanez has taken thus far, which involves heavy playing time with the U-19 side before pushing for appearances in the senior squad.

Hernandez-Foster did not see any playing time with the LA Galaxy’s first team but was a member of the LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship. Last October, he made three appearances in the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Despite losing a top academy prospect, the LA Galaxy should be pleased to see their young talents representing their academy for clubs in top European leagues. They have been having success as of late developing players and Hernandez-Foster is the perfect example of the quality of the academy.

Even players like Efrain Alvarez who have not moved to Europe yet are showing tremendous potential. Alvarez is one of the top young players in Major League Soccer and also has what it takes to eventually move to a bigger club in the future.

Alex Mendez of Ajax has been the most recent LA Galaxy academy player to sign for a huge club. He may be one the best players to ever come through the club’s academy and is a terrific illustration of the impressive assembly line of development that the Galaxy have built.

The aforementioned Llanez is the other academy product who is considered a bright up-and-coming talent at Wolfsburg. He appears close to getting his first appearance for the senior team. Only a few weeks ago, he scored his first goal for the USMNT senior team.

The Galaxy might be known for big splashes in the transfer market, especially when it comes to signing big-named Designed Players, but their academy is deceptively productive. As of late, FC Dallas have arguably the most impressive track record at developing young talent, but the Galaxy appear to be regaining ground on their Western Conference counterparts. Both clubs have been developing talent that has been noticed by Bundesliga clubs in recent years and will continue to do so in future years.

Hernandez-Foster will enter Wolfsburg as a top prospect. He will have to work his up the ranks as he hopes to forge a role for himself in the senior squad. It is no easy task, but that he is there is impressive enough and a clear sign of the positive work the LA Galaxy academy is conducting.
