2020 Outlook

New York City FC started their pre-season earlier than most sides, with their first clash coming on January 15. They played Corinthians and Palmeiras in the space of three days in Florida, before then also having matches against Los Angeles FC and Orange County SC in California. The club will travel back to Florida for their final two pre-season fixtures against Miami FC and Inter Miami CF ahead of the start of the campaign

The Sky Blues will begin their 2020 season in the CONCACAF Champions League, with a Round of 16 tie against Costa Rican side San Carlos. NYCFC will travel to Costa Rica for the first leg on February 20, before then hosting the second leg of the tie six days later in New Jersey.

Four days after that, the club will start the regular-season in MLS, with a road game in Columbus, before then travelling to Toronto for their second match of the campaign. The Sky Blues will play their first home match on the third weekend of the new term, playing FC Dallas, before then facing Vancouver Whitecaps on home soil a week later.

The famed Hudson River derby will be contested at Yankee Stadium on May 31, before the return leg comes at Red Bull Arena at the end of August. In between those two clashes, the Sky Blues will face Atlanta United twice, MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders and MLS new-boys Inter Miami CF.

They will face the black and pink again in their run-in, before matches against Orlando City and D.C. United. NYCFC will play Sporting Kansas City on October 4, Decision Day, with the hope of already being in the post-season by that point. Along with the league, New York City FC will feature in the U.S. Open Cup and will be aiming to better their quarter-final run from last season.
