Seattle Sounders: 6 takeaways from Preseason Week 4
By Paul Taylor
1. Tacoma Defiance sign Danny Reynolds
When the Seattle Sounders selected Danny Reynolds in the second round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, it was seen as a key addition for a defense lacking in depth. It was also seen as an intriguing pick for a player who proved his mental fortitude, by overcoming adversity earlier in his playing career.
On Friday, Reynolds took another step in a footballing journey which started back in England. As per a press release from soundersfc.com, the Tacoma Defiance signed him to a contract.
This shows that the Sounders have been impressed with the 22-year-old’s early contributions to the club and believe in his potential. At the same time, however, the youngster still has a lot to prove if he is to stick around in the Pacific Northwest for the long-term.
It will be interesting to see if Reynolds is given the opportunity to play in one position regularly, with the Sounders complimenting his versatility on a number of occasions. Center back is arguably his best position, but his skill with the ball and ability to provide offense could see him also spend time playing at left-back.
