2020 Outlook

The side will play five pre-season friendlies ahead of their inaugural campaign in the top flight, with matches against three MLS teams in Philadelphia Union, New York City FC and FC Dallas sandwiched in between clashes with Charleston Battery and Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Inter Miami have arguably been given the hardest possible bow in the league, as they travel to Banc of California on the opening weekend to face Los Angeles FC, the side that broke records galore across the 2019 regular season.

The club’s home opener comes in the third week of the season, as they play hosts to LA Galaxy. It could be an emotional one for David Beckham, who spent his entire MLS career with the Galaxy, winning the MLS Cup in back-to-back years (2011, 2012) with the club.

The first expansion battle will come on May 3, as Inter Miami travels to Tennessee to take on their fellow MLS new-boys, Nashville SC, ahead of clashes with the two 2017 expansion sides, Minnesota United and Atlanta United.

IMCF will play their Florida neighbours twice in the space of six weeks in the height of the summer, first off playing in Orlando on July 10, before then hosting the Lions on August 20, as their run-in begins.

Their season-finale will come at home on October 4, Decision Day, when they face Columbus Crew, with the hope of being in the playoff race at that point.

As a new team, Inter Miami CF will go into the third round of the U.S. Open Cup, and they will face lower-league opposition in mid-April.

It could be a tough year ahead for the fans of the black and pink outfit, and hopes should not be too optimistic for the first campaign in the league. If they were to challenge for a playoff spot, then that would be good going for IMCF in 2020.
