2020 Outlook

The Columbus Crew have a lengthy preseason, which has already began, with matches already played against Ventury County Fusion, the Vancouver Whitecaps, Orlando City and San Jose Earthquakes. They will also face Sporting Kansas City before a trio of matches in the Visit Tucson Sun Cup, a preseason event featuring the Phoenix Rising, New York Red Bulls and Houston Dynamo.

Nine days after their preseason finishes, the side’s 2020 regular season will begin with a home opener against New York City FC, the side that topped the Eastern Conference in 2019. They then follow that with a trip to the reigning MLS Cup champions, the Seattle Sounders, just six days later.

Columbus face MLS new-boys Nashville SC in their fourth regular-season fixture but have to wait until early July before they play Inter Miami CF, the second of the two expansion sides for the new term.

Their mid-season run will see them play FC Cincinnati twice in the Hell Is Real Derby in the space of seven games, with away trips to Toronto FC, D.C. United and New York City FC in between, along with home games against the New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids filling out the run. The Crew also end the season with a tricky run as well, playing the Houston Dynamo, New York Red Bulls, Atlanta United and Inter Miami CF in their final four games.

Along with the league campaign, the Columbus Crew will also feature in the U.S. Open Cup in 2020. Due to their league position last season, they will be among the 11 MLS teams that will enter the competition at the fourth-round stage.
