1. Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan released early

Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan are back with the Seattle Sounders, sort of. The duo were granted early release from the United States Men’s National Team camp in order to prepare for the CONCACAF Champions League.

However, as per Jeremiah Oshan of Sounder at Heart, it is unclear at the time of writing if Morris and Roldan will join their club teammates in California. One of the other options is to give them time off before training camp resumes back in Seattle on Feb. 1.

Certainly, you can make a case for both options. While getting on the same page as the other players as early as possible is important, rest is equally valuable, especially given that the USMNT began training a week early than the Sounders. And due to the added travel, it might be wiser to return to Seattle.

If that is the case, apart from the fact they are veterans who have already been training, they will still have essentially three weeks to prepare with the club before the first leg of their Champions League clash with Olimpia.
