4. No room for complacency

Speaking of the second training session, it was described by Brian Schmetzer as energetic. While this is no surprise given that we’re talking about young athletes, it is still an excellent sign that they are all determined to make their mark with the Seattle Sounders.

Interestingly, the younger players won’t be able to take anything for granted or just enjoy the warm weather in California. Speaking to the Sounders’ in-house media team, Schmetzer said:

"“Their pre-requisites are they have to work hard, they have to work smart and if they do that they will be here. If they don’t, then we’ll ship them back home to Seattle.”"

This is important in terms of our earlier comment about learning to behave professionally. Schmetzer’s warning lets the youngsters know this includes being consistent and trying to be the best you can be each and every day.
