Seattle Sounders: 5 takeaways from first week of training camp
By Paul Taylor
1. Julian Avila-Good
There was already one intriguing Seattle Sounders story to take away from the MLS Superdraft, where rejection earlier in Danny Reynolds’ playing career led him to Seattle. However, the club still managed to create another intriguing plot line last Monday during round three of the draft. As reported by Mondello, the Rave Green decided to select Julian Avila-Good with the 78th overall pick.
If he sounds familiar, it’s because he played four seasons for the Redhawks at Seattle University. Avila-Good’s resume includes some impressive accomplishments during his final season at university. He was named All-WAC First Team and selected for the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team.
The Canadian-born midfielder scored four goals and added nine assists during his college career, including a goal and three assists in his senior year. One of the key elements he potentially brings to the Sounders is durability. He was one of two Reahawks outfield players to start all 23 matches in 2019.
