7. Dwyer sends SKC to MLS Cup
Sporting KC punched their ticket to the 2013 MLS Cup Final with a 2-1 aggregate win over the Houston Dynamo in the Eastern Conference Final.
After a scoreless first leg in Houston, the Dynamo scored the tie’s opening goal in the third minute of the return leg after Boniek Garcia’s deflected shot squeezed past Nielsen. CJ Sapong equalized in the 14th minute after SKC’s high pressure forced the Dynamo to concede possession high up the pitch. But then came the signature moment.
In the 63rd minute, after Feilhaber chipped the ball through, Dom Dwyer kept his composure and supplied the goal that got them to the final. Coming from one goal down in such magnificent fashion, this was a brilliantly raucous moment for Sporting KC.
