8. Wizards defeat Manchester United
What a glorious return to Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Wizards, who defeated Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United by a score of 2-1 in a friendly in July 2010.
The Wizards took the lead after Davy Arnaud tucked away his chance in the 11th minute. Jimmy Conrad was controversially sent off after bringing down Dimitar Berbatov inside the box. Berbatov converted the penalty to equalize in the 41st minute, before Kei Kamara responded just minutes later, heading in Ryan Smith’s out-swinging corner.
The Wizards won in front of 52,424 fans, in which the majority seemed to be local Manchester United supporters. Beating a team of Man. Utd’s stature was an incredible moment, even in a friendly, and doing so in front of so many supporters only made the moment more special.
