USMNT: Team of the Decade
The end of the 2010 decade is here. And with it, comes reflection. So, with the time to look back over the past ten years upon us, here is the USMNT Team of the Decade.
It has not been the most propserous decade for the U.S. Men’s National Team. Two World Cups, one failed World Cup qualification, two Gold Cup victories, and some rather humiliating defeats to the CONCACAF supremes, Mexico, there have been moments to cherish and others to forget.
And amidst all of this, there has been a plethora of key players that have featured heavily for the USMNT, some more successful than others. So, given that it is now the end of the decade, it is the time to reflect on what has been and the players that starred.
So, here is the USMNT Team of the Decade (I warn you, you will not agree with every selection and the overall team is a little underwhelming).
Goalkeeper
There was only ever one option in goal. Tim Howard is not only the USMNT Goalkeeper of the Decade; he might well be the best American goalkeeper in history. His starring moment came in the 2014 World Cup where he made a ridiculous 16 saves in a knockout defeat to Belgium.
