1. Miami vs. Nashville

May 3 will see yet another match between expansion sides with each team in their inaugural season, this time between Inter Miami and Nashville SC. This will be the first expansion showdown since Atlanta hosted its expansion counterpart, Minnesota United, in October 2017. Minnesota exacted revenge on that day, winning 3-2 in Atlanta after losing 6-1 in Minnesota back in March of the same year.

The other most recent expansion showdown came in 2015 between Orlando City and NYCFC. With both teams in the Eastern Conference, there were two matches in 2015, each ending in 1-1 draws.

Nashville will have the honor of hosting Miami. It will be nationally televised by FS1 and, given that it will take place in May, viewers will likely have an understanding of each team’s quality. Both sides will have at least a half dozen games of experience under the belt and either side will be fighting for the immediate bragging rights that go with this type of match.
