4. 2019 – Seattle Sounders Vs Toronto FC

The latest installment of the Toronto-Seattle saga MLS fans have grown accustomed to seeing in MLS Cup was the worst match of the three. This version saw the host Seattle Sounders take home MLS Cup once again, this time in front of 69, 274 fans in CenturyLink Field.

Seattle got on the board first courtesy of a goal from Kelvin Leerdam, but the shot took a massive deflection of Justin Morrow, taking it clear of Quentin Westberg. The goal that followed was nothing short of world-class, Victor Rodriguez curling one into the bottom corner from the edge of the box in the 76th minute.

Seattle put the final nail in the coffin at the death of stoppage time with Raúl Ruidíaz fighting off Chris Mavinga to slip it into the net to make it 3-0. Jozy Altidore made it 3-1 in extra time to avoid the shutout, but the match and the trophy was already in Seattle’s hands. A crowd that size creates an incredible moment for American soccer supporters, but this was not the most inspiring match, topped off by a deflected opener and defensive blunder.
