1. Los Angeles FC

Supporters’ Shield winners and several records broken in the regular season, now Los Angeles FC have started the playoffs with their first-ever win over the LA Galaxy. And they did it in some style. They came into their first postseason clash of the year off the first-round bye with the added motivation of beating the Galaxy for the first time in six matches. And so that is precisely what they did, scoring five past the five-time MLS Cup Champions.

It had to be Carlos Vela who got things going. He scored twice in the first 40 minutes, even if it came with the benefit of some VAR controversy. By the 55th minute, the visiting Galaxy side had levelled the game thanks to strikes from Cristian Pavon and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but LAFC were not done yet.

The hosts scored twice in two second-half minutes to pull out to a second two-goal lead to 4-2, thanks to Diego Rossi and Adama Diomande. The latter would bag his brace later on, eventually securing a historic 5-3 win.
