On Saturday night, Toronto FC dismantled D.C. United in a 5-1 extra-time win in the first round of the MLS Playoffs. Here are the full player ratings.

In a crazy game of football, Toronto FC thrashed D.C. United 5-1 after extra-time to advance into the Eastern Conference play-off semi-finals. Toronto took the lead through Marky Delgado and looked to have done enough until Lucas Rodriguez scored a 93rd-minute equaliser for D.C. United.

But that was as good as it got for Ben Olsen’s side, who completely capitulated during extra-time, shipping four goals in 12 minutes, ending Wayne Rooney’s short MLS career.

Toronto FC

Quentin Westberg – 9 – Made a string of excellent saves in the second half as DC finally started to turn the screw. The scoreline doesn’t quite reflect how important Westberg was to this win.

Auro – 6 – Was solid at right-back all evening and it seemed a strange decision to bring him off, given the tight nature of the game at that time.

Laurent Ciman – 7 – Lost Rooney a couple of times during the second half but was otherwise reliable at centre-back.

Chris Mavinga – 8 – A strong performance from Mavinga, who was a commanding presence at the heart of the Toronto defence. Dominated in the air and looked assured for most of the game. Let’s hope that injury isn’t too serious.

Justin Morrow – 7 – Was rock-solid in the air and on the floor all evening and provided great energy for Toronto out wide.

Marco Delgado – 8 – Was on hand to pounce on Hamid’s mistake and put Toronto ahead. Always looked to create and was a threat throughout.

Michael Bradley – 8 – Nowhere near as mobile as he used to be but still has a brilliant eye for a pass. Intercepted Arriola’s wayward pass in the build-up to Toronto’s second goal.

Jonathan Osorio – 9 – Performed superbly as the link between Toronto’s midfield and forward line but was rightly booked for diving during the first half. Redeemed himself in extra-time to put Toronto 3-1 and 4-1 up, first with a scrappy goal, then with a finely taken volley.

Tsubasa Endoh – 6 – Another industrious, hardworking performance from a very underrated player. Looked threatening on one-on-one situations and did his fair share of tracking back.

Alejandro Pozuelo – 8 – Fired in the shot which forced the mistake from Hamid and played brilliantly as Toronto’s central attacker. Was intelligent enough to move himself away from DC’s excellent centre-backs in order to find more space and profited with his assist for Osorio’s second.

Nicolas Benezet – 7 – Looked a real threat for the first hour before he started to fade. Was lucky to get away with a terrible backpass – likely due to tiredness – which put Kamara in on goal but Westberg bailed him out. That shouldn’t get in the way of what was a positive performance.

Subs:

Nick DeLeon (73 mins, for Endoh) – 10 – Introduced against his former side to provide more energy down Toronto’s right flank and did just that. Provided the assist for Laryea’s goal in extra-time, stole it from Hamid for Osorio’s first and curled in a fantastic effort to make it 5-1.

Richie Laryea (81 mins, for Benezet) – 8 – Looked lively and dangerous when he came on and took his goal brilliantly in extra-time to put Toronto back in front and begin the rout.

Drew Moor (92 mins, for Auro) – 6 – Was dealt the unfortunate hand of being introduced for an opposition corner, which they scored from. Looked solid throughout extra-time.

Patrick Mullins (106 mins, for Mavinga) – 6 – Worked hard in the final period of extra-time despite his side already being 5-1. Could have had a goal for himself had he been a little more clinical.
