The Loons come into the postseason as the number four seed, slipping from second on Decision Day. But it was a strong second half of the season that put them in such a strong position in the first place, and young striker Mason Toye played a key role in their surge up the standings.

After being selected with the seventh pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Toye has been a revelation this year for the Loons, providing them with a different type of forward. He is quick, physical, a terrific runner off the ball, and has shown an eye for goal too. His best performance came in an unlikely victory against LAFC at the Banc of California Stadium. He led the line bravely and brilliantly and scored two terrific goals to hand LAFC their only home defeat of the season.

Overall, Toye has six goals and three assists in the regular season and has helped get the Loons into the playoffs for the first time. Keep an eye out for the United States U-21 regular as Minnesota aim to go deep.
