3. Atlanta United
Atlanta United are positioned to defend their MLS Cup, despite their change in the coaching staff and roster turnover. Even without hitting on their flashy DP signing, Gonzalo Martinez, the team still finds itself second in the East.
However, the Five Stripes face an uphill battle in having to take down both New York City FC and Los Angeles FC, especially amidst an inconsistent season. Yet, Atlanta have one thing going for them: a penchant for trophies. The club has amassed four trophies (if you count the Eastern Conference title from last season) in a span of just 10 months. They will fight with everything they have to get a fifth.
And given the talent in the team, as well as the greatest goalscorer in MLS, you would be brave to bet against them. Atlanta might not be quite as brilliant as last year, but they are very, very good and will be a tough opponent for any team.
