MLS: Playoff Power Rankings
4. Seattle Sounders
The Chad Marshall retirement and Ozzie Alonso departure may have rocked the Seattle Sounders a little defensively, but this is now an offence-first team — they scored 52 goals this season. And given the quality they will field in the final third, it is easy to see why.
Raul Ruidiaz is a brilliant goalscorer, Jordan Morris has been superb in the second half of the season, finally discovering the nuances of playing out wide, while Nico Lodeiro is an elite MLS attacking midfielder, Victor Rodriguez provides something unique, while Cristian Roldan is beginning to discover his best form too. It is a sensational line-up.
Seattle also have the benefit of playing at home in both the first round and the Conference semi-finals. They lost twice at home all year, host the number seven seeded FC Dallas in the first round, and will avoid Los Angeles FC until the Conference finals. It is a nice run that could open up with an upset in the other half of the draw.
