Ahead of a home match versus Cuba on Friday night, here is how the USMNT should line up in their opening CONCACAF Nationals League game.

The United States Men’s National Team are set to kick off their CONCACAF Nations League campaign on Friday night when they host Cuba at Audi Field in Washington D.C.

It might not seem like the most important match on the surface, but this U.S. team could really use a win at the moment. It has been far from a dream start to life for manager Gregg Berhalter, who is now under immense scrutiny from fans and critics alike. He needs to start picking up results, starting with Friday night’s game against Cuba. If he wants to give his team the best chance to do that, Berhalter will have to get his starting line-up correct on the night.

So, with that in mind, here is how the USMNT should line up on Friday night.

Goalkeeper – Zack Steffen

Some were worried about Zack Steffen’s future when he left the Columbus Crew to join English champions Manchester City, but he has only gotten better since the move and is now shining on loan for Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Not blessed with the best defense in front of him, Steffen has still managed to make some stunning saves and is a key reason why Dusseldorf are currently sat outside of the relegation zone. He even saved a penalty in a match against Freiburg, proving he is still excellent when it comes to dealing with spot-kicks. Steffen is the best American keeper by some margin, and should rightly start vs. Cuba.
