MLS: Top 10 performances from Decision Day
By Matt Coles
8. Benji Michel
In one of the only games at the weekend that did not have any playoff implications, two men stood out from the crowd, with the first being Orlando City’s Benji Michel. The forward has just completed his first season in MLS, having been signed to a Homegrown Contract in December of last year following a quality spell at the University of Portland.
Michel started Sunday’s game with Chicago in great fashion when he set up Tesho Akindele to give the Lions the lead inside the opening five minutes. He then notched his own goal with a lovely finish into the bottom corner.
Chicago may have won 5-2 in the end, but with Michel showing his worth, adding his fifth goal on the year on Sunday, the Lions will be hoping that he can influence their revival in the league, along with a good draft and some good off-season acquisitions.
