FIFA 20 has arrived and the always controversial player ratings are out. How did the popular game grade the Atlanta United players?
Defending Major League Soccer champions, Atlanta United, are among one of the higher-rated clubs in the game from MLS.
Atlanta United’s high degree of offensive power did not go unnoticed as they bolster a 77 offensive rating overall This, of course, has to do with the likes of Josef Martinez in the lineup, who comes in as the club’s highest-rated player at 81 overall.
There shouldn’t be much surprise here as Martinez is easily one of the top five players in MLS. He is a constant threat in attack and FIFA 20 is very fair here with their ranking of Atlanta’s top player. All in all, Martinez comes in as the third-ranked player from MLS in the entire game.
So, who follows Martinez as the next best player? It’s none other than Gonzalo Martinez, who is rated at 77 overall. There is no doubt that Martinez is a talent but his play in MLS this year might have some supporters questioning if he deserved to be over 75 overall.
The next few players might be surprising to some as Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, Darlington Nagbe, and Hector Villalba are all at 75 overall. Right behind them is a player who should probably actually be ahead of all three of these players. Ezequiel Barco checks in at 74 overall. The Argentine midfielder is one of the best prospects in MLS and should be at least 75 overall with 76 being a more fair rating.

Other ratings throughout the Atlanta roster are predominantly fair. Aside from those already mentioned, there are four other players who are rated at 70 or higher. They include Julian Gressel (73 overall), Brad Guzan (72 overall), Florentin Pogba (70 overall), and Eric Remdei (71 overall). Of those, Guzan is perhaps a little undervalued. He is still a very effective goalkeeper and he might deserve a rating of around 75. Meanwhile, Pogba might be benefitting from his name. He has not had the greatest of seasons for Atlanta United and is a little fortunate to reach the 70 rating.
Moving further down the squad, Justin Meram, Miles Robinson, and Franco Escobar are three players rated in the 60s that could be in the 70s. Other than that, it is pretty much a fair set of ratings for the remainder of the roster.
