FIFA 20 has arrived and the player ratings are out. How did the game rate the Supporters Shield winners, LAFC?

Los Angeles FC have taken Major League Soccer by storm.

They have already claimed a trophy by clinching the Supporters’ Shield with two matchdays still to go, setting a historic pace in goals scored, goals conceded (until recent weeks), and overall points. They are largely considered as the greatest MLS team in history.

So, with LAFC having a breakout year, you think they would have a very high FIFA 20 rating overall. But that was not the case. FIFA 20 got most of the team wrong, with the overall rating checking in at three stars, with a 75 attack, 71 midfield, and 68 defense.

If there was one thing FIFA got right, that was the rating of Carlos Vela. His 83 overall rating is perfect and he ranks as the second-best player in the game from MLS. Only arch-rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic was rated higher. Vela has been a revelation in MLS this year and is on his way to MVP status if he can close out the season on fire.

Now, moving down the list, there are a few head-scratchers in the other player ratings. Diego Rossi is only at 73 overall. He should be up above 75. Even last season, Rossi showed he deserved a higher rating than 73. Tyler Miller’s 68 overall rating is pretty shocking from what we’ve seen this season as well. The goalkeeper has been a solid player in net and has been one of the top players in the United States Men’s National Team player pool.

A few other players who were rated too low were Latif Blessing and Mark-Anthony Kaye. These two players are better than their 72 overall ratings. They deserve to be around 74 or 75 overall. Another player we can throw into this discussion is Walker Zimmerman who is only at 73 overall. Much like Blessing and Kaye, he should be at 75 overall.

Perhaps the most underrated player on the LAFC roster is Brian Rodriguez who comes in at 64 overall. He should be much closer to 70 overall and is easily one of the most underrated players in the game from MLS.

There were three mainstay players who the game got right and they are Lee Nguyen, Adama Diomande, and Eduardo Atuesta. These three all received very fair ratings to what they have shown this year.

All-in-all, LAFC should have been three and a half stars overall. Their 75 offensive rating is a bit a low for a team in the league who has scored 81 goals. Perhaps a FIFA 20 update will address this as the new season progresses.
