1. Alexandru Mitrita

The star man of the midweek slate scored three times in the opening 34 minutes of New York City FC’s clash with Atlanta United. Alexandru Mitrita put NYCFC in a commanding position against the reigning MLS Cup champions with a terrific first-half performance.

The Romanian attacker got the opening goal of the game at Yankee Stadium inside the opening quarter of an hour. He cut inside from the left wing, getting past a couple of defenders, before firing a curling shot into the far corner.

His second of the game was a carbon copy up to the point of his shot. This time, he fired to the near post, with the ball cannoning in off the upright. Mitrita then got his hat-trick just 34 minutes into the match, with a tap in from close range.
