2. Los Angeles FC

From one triumph to another, and to the side that has ran away with the league, clinching the Supporters’ Shield with two games to spare. Los Angeles FC have been on a different level over the course of the 2019 campaign and have pretty much had the league title won since July, although they only officially got over the line on Wednesday evening.

They hosted the Houston Dynamo, knowing a win would clinch the silverware, and they started the strong of the two teams, with MLS MVP-candidate Carlos Vela opening the scoring halfway through the first period. However, the league-leaders were pegged back just five minutes later, as a Tyler Miller own goal levelled the scores to make it 1-1 at the break. Diego Rossi put the hosts back in front with twenty minutes to play, before Eduard Atuesta scored this sublime free-kick to seal the deal for LAFC.

Unsurprisingly, they will go into the playoffs as the over-riding favourites to lift the MLS Cup in eight weeks time. With Vela, Rossi, Atuesta and more all in great form, the question would be, can they be stopped? The side from Los Angeles has also now guaranteed themselves a first round-bye in the post-season, ahead of a home playoff tie at the Banc of California Stadium, where they have been amazing this term.
