4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristian Pavon

The LA Galaxy needed a pair of men to help them through to another victory in MLS play this week with both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristian Pavon both grabbing a goal and an assist as they won 2-1 away to Real Salt Lake.

After a goalless first half in Salt Lake City, the Galaxy came out firing to start the second period. The visitors opened the scoring just five minutes after the break, Pavon breaking the deadlock. The Argentinian midfielder ran on to a flick on from the Swedish forward, before slotting the ball home to make it 1-0 to the Galaxy. The pair then reversed roles in the 80th minute. Pavon chased down a ball into the corner, picking it up before sliding the ball across the box for Ibrahimovic, who finished with aplomb to double the Galaxy’s lead in the match.

That goal keeps Ibrahimovic in with a shout of winning the Golden Boot. He has 28 on the year with Carlos Vela out front on 30. The Swede will still know that he has a chance in those final two games. The Galaxy will also be hoping that the partnership between their star centre-forward and Pavon continues to blossom into the post-season.
