15 straight games! FIFTEEN! Josef Martinez is a freak of nature, as he continued his epic goalscoring run this week with two goals against MLS new-boys FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night.

The Venezuelan striker made it 15 consecutive MLS games in which he had scored, bagging 21 times in that amazing run. He got another two this week against FC Cincinnati with the first coming from a classic counter-attack from a Cincinnati corner. But it was the Venezuelan’s second goal of the match that was somewhat more spectacular, grabbing the headlines across the league. It started with a backheel flick to get past one defender, before sitting another one down, before then applying the finishing touch with his weaker left foot.

He was unable to score for the Five Stripes in their second game of the week against San Jose and was stretchered off with an injury, one that could cause Atlanta some problems moving forward. It is unknown how long the striker will be out for, but some sources have said he will not be back for the end of the regular season. The injury is a major shame, especially after an outstanding two-goal display in midweek.
