5. Brek Shea

With Greg Garza leaving for FC Cincinnati at the end of last season, Atlanta United had a hole to fill at left-back. That Brek Shea was the man to step into that void was something very few people could have foreseen, however.

In all honesty, even before his injury, Shea flattered to deceive and has never quite taken off during his time with the Five Stripes, posting a pretty modest 81.8% pass completion rate and failing to do much of, well, anything really.

Then the knee injury happened, compounding Shea’s misery and allowing Meram to step into his position and make it his own. Even when fully fit, it’s hard to see the ex-Stoke City man reclaiming his place now.
