Loser – Sebastien Ibeagha

The result could have been so much better on Wednesday night had it not been for a moment of complete stupidity from centre-back Sebastien Ibeagha.

NYCFC had been in complete control of the game for most of the first half, using their narrow pitch to their advantage to stifle Toronto’s passing through the middle, while Mitriță ensured they always looked dangerous going forward.

But then Jozy Altidore got the ball in the NYCFC box on 38 minutes and Ibeagha decided it’d be a good idea to try and swap shirts with the USMNT international far in advance of the final whistle. Altidore was dragged down and despite some baffling, fruitless appeals from Ibeagha, the penalty was given.

Pozuelo sent Johnson the wrong way to level things up for Toronto and NYCFC struggled to truly reassert any sort of dominance on the game from there.
