RB – Tyrone Mears – Unattached

English full-back Tyrone Mears made the starting right-back role his own over the course of his two seasons with Seattle, with his final appearance for the club coming in the 2016 MLS Cup final.

The majority of the defender’s career came in England, going all the way back to 2001 when he began his professional journey with Manchester City. Mears then spent four seasons with Preston North End before then having both a loan and permanent spell with Derby County, followed by his only spell in mainland Europe, spending six months with Marseille.

On his return, he signed for Burnley, playing over 80 league games in just under three years with the club. After a three-year spell with Bolton Wanderers, Mears made the move across the Atlantic. The defender signed for Seattle, where he spent two seasons, including the 2016 MLS Cup-winning campaign. Mears played 38 times for the side that year, including all 570 minutes of the playoff run to the title.

He then spent a season with Atlanta United, followed by a short spell with Minnesota United, before he made the move back to England. The full-back spent the 2018-19 season with West Bromwich Albion in the Championship, the second tier of English football, but was released at the end of the campaign.
