CM – Mix Diskerud – Ulsan Hyundai (K-League, KOR)
Norwegian-Born American Mix Diskerud was the second man who played in the middle of midfield for NYCFC in their MLS-opener against Orlando City. In scoring their only goal in the 1-1 draw, Diskerud became the club’s first-ever goalscorer in MLS. He went on to play 27 times for the side in the 2015 campaign.
After being born in Oslo, the midfielder’s career began in Norway, with his first professional steps coming with Stabæk. He spent four seasons with the club and won the Superfinalen in 2009. Diskerud then spent a short period at Gent on loan, before making the permanent move to Rosenborg.
Whilst still playing in Norway, the midfielder made his international debut for the USMNT, having had the choice to represent either Norway or the United States. He played 38 times over the course of six years with the national side, and was part of the USMNT that won the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
In 2015, Diskerud made the move to New York City FC and became an integral part of their midfield core. After two seasons with the club, scoring four goals and setting up three more, he made the move to IF Goteborg on loan. Diskerud then signed for Manchester City, before being sent back to IFG for a second loan spell. He currently plays for Ulsan Hyundai in South Korea, still on loan from the English champions.
