2. Carlos Vela

What more can we say about the man? Carlos Vela has been in a world of his own this season and he keeps continuing to put in epic performances for LAFC, who seem to be en route to breaking almost every regular season record there is.

The Mexican looks like he could do the same when it comes to all the individual awards as well. He is odds-on to win the MLS MVP award, as well as honing in on the all-time record for goals in a season, set last year by Josef Martinez.

The former Arsenal and Real Sociedad forward now has 27 goals in 26 games, having scored three times in LAFC’s two matches in Heineken Rivalry Week. After scoring from the penalty spot for his first against San Jose in an all-Californian match-up, the Mexican then scored this Goal of the Season contender.

After LAFC beat San Jose 4-0, they came into their clash with the Galaxy, ‘El Trafico’, in high hopes. The match finished 3-3, with Vela scoring the equalising goal in the 53rd minute. However, the Mexican came off early through a suspected hamstring injury. Although LAFC looks like they have the Supporters’ Shield in the bag, it will be a wait-and-see type situation to see how bad the injury to their star man could be.
