LB – Maynor Figueroa – Houston Dynamo (MLS)

Starting left-back Maynor Figueroa helped the side in lifting the U.S. Open Cup and the Supporters’ Shield in his first season with the club, and only his second in the league. The Honduran defender started his professional career before the turn of the century, signing his first contract with Victoria in 1999, the club where he had spent the six years prior as a youth.

After four seasons, Figueroa made the move to C.D. Olimpia, where he first tasted success. During his five years with the club, he helped them to win the 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06 Clausura and the 2005-06 Apertura in the Honduran Liga Nacional.

He also made his international debut whilst at Olimpia, and the full-back has gone on to become the national team’s captain, and the record appearance holder, having played over 150 times for Honduras. Figueroa featured at four CONCACAF Gold Cups, two FIFA World Cups and was an over-age player for the U23 squad at the 2012 Olympic Games.

After leaving Olimpia, the defender moved to the Premier League, signing for Wigan Athletic. He was part of the shock F.A. Cup winning side in 2013, as they defeated Manchester City in the final. After spending time with Hull City, Figueroa made the move Stateside, joining the Colorado Rapids in 2015. He only played 10 games for the side before moving to FC Dallas for the 2016 campaign.

His first season in Texas was a good one, as he played 28 times, helping FCD to the double. After three terms with the club, the Honduran made the move to state rivals Houston Dynamo, where he continues to play through 2019.
