LW – Michael Barrios – FC Dallas
The third member of the 2016 USOC-winning team to still be playing his football in Dallas is Colombian winger Michael Barrios. The 28-year-old began his professional career with Uniautónoma in the Categoría Primera B, the second division in Colombia’s footballing pyramid. Barrios spent the first four seasons of his career with the side, which was the entirety of the club’s life.
The club was founded in 2011 and Barrios was one of their first signings. He went on to become the side’s record appearance maker and their record goal-scorer, as he bagged 32 goals in 137 games. During that time, Barrios helped the team to win the Categoría Primera B, seeing them promoted to the top flight of Colombian football.
In February 2015, the midfielder made the move to MLS, signing for FC Dallas. He has played at least 25 league games in all five seasons since his move to Texas and now has played over 150 times for the club. Barrios helped the club to win the double in his second season. They won the U.S. Open Cup and the Supporters’ Shield in 2016, with that being the Colombian’s only double-figure goal-scoring season in his time with the team. He continues to be the starting left-winger for FC Dallas.
