Three years ago, FC Dallas took home their second Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title after beating the New England Revolution in the final. But where is that matchday squad now?

On September 13, 2016, in Frisco, Texas, FC Dallas used their home advantage to smash four past the New England Revolution in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final. With the victory, FCD ended a 19-year drought without a trophy, dating back to 1997, when they won the USOC for the first time in their history.

The 2016 squad also went on to finish the regular season in first place, winning the Supporters’ Shield. But where are the members of that 18-man matchday squad now?

The starting goalkeeper for FC Dallas in the 2016 USOC final was American Chris Seitz. He played in both the semi-final and final en-route to the title.

Seitz came into the league with Real Salt Lake, who drafted the shot-stopper with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. He spent three seasons in Salt Lake City but only played seven MLS games for the club, as he was unable to oust MLS-legend Nick Rimando from between the sticks. During his time with the team, they won the MLS Cup in 2009, Seitz’s first taste of silverware in professional football.

After loan spells with Cleveland City and Portland Timbers, Seitz moved to Philadelphia, joining the Union for the 2010 season. After playing 23 times for the side that year, he was traded to FC Dallas ahead of the 2011 campaign. For his first five seasons in Texas, Seitz remained a back-up, but he got his big chance in 2016, as he started 28 league games and helped the side to both the U.S. Open Cup and the Supporters’ Shield.

After the 2017 season, Seitz moved to state rivals Houston Dynamo, where he won the U.S. Open Cup for the second time in his career. After a year with the Dynamo, the American then signed for D.C. United ahead of the 2019 campaign.
