2. Mauro Manotas

It was a tale of two halves in Houston on Saturday evening, as the Colorado Rapids went out to a two-goal lead before the break, before the Dynamo came fighting back to tie it up in the second period. Mauro Manotas was the hero for the Dynamo, who needed the two goals from their Colombian forward to get them a point in Davy Arnaud’s first game in charge of the Texan side.

His coaching debut did not get off to the best of starts though, as his team conceded after just seven minutes. Diego Rubio opened the scoring for the Rapids. The Colorado forward then bagged his second of the game seven minutes before the break, giving the visitors a two-goal lead going into the interval.

After a formation change at half-time, Arnaud’s Houston looked more dangerous, and when Manotas was set free by a glorious ball from Adam Lundkvist, the Colombian made no mistakes. Just five minutes later, he doubled his tally for the game, bringing the Dynamo level to earn them a much-needed point from this encounter.
