It had been nearly a month since the LA Galaxy last won a league game, allowing the chasing pack to close up on that second spot in the West. However, they finally righted the recent wrongs thanks to a double from who else but Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Wednesday evening. The Galaxy were facing FC Dallas, who themselves also have playoff hopes, sitting just a point outside the top seven ahead of the game.

After a scrappy first half, it was the hosts that got the breakthrough midway through the second period at Dignity Health Sports Complex. Cristian Pavon and Jorgen Skjelvik combined down the left side for the Galaxy, before the latter squared the ball across the box for Ibrahimovic to slot the ball home. The Swede then got his — and the team’s — second of the night from the penalty spot, after Pavon had been brought down in the area.

On the year, Ibrahimovic now has 18 goals, and is behind only Josef Martinez and Carlos Vela when it comes to goals scored. LA will be hoping he can keep roaring for them to the end of the campaign.
